Melanie Rose Papalia is a Canadian actress who has been on our film and television screens (or whatever screen you stream your content on these days) for nearly 20 years. She is currently best known for her starring role in You Me Her, an American-Canadian comedy drama series billed as the first “polyromantic comedy” on television as it features a married couple, Jack and Emma, who embark on a three-way relationship with another woman, Izzy. Papalia played Izzy’s best friend and confidante Nina in all five seasons of the show, appearing in 50 episodes. She also played Amy in the fourth season of Suits and has appeared in many films, including the critically-acclaimed, Oscar and Golden Glove-nominated Hell or High Water.
Papalia was born in Vancouver in the summer of 1984. She began her professional acting career in the early-mid 2000s with minor roles in series such as Smallville and Cold Squad and made her film debut in 2005. Her first recurring role came in 2005 when she played Casey Whelan in Intelligence, a crime drama that caused a stir when it was allegedly cancelled due to pressure from the Canadian government.
In 2011, Papalia landed her first main-cast role, playing Pippa in the Canadian drama Endgame. In 2013, she was nominated for an iHorror Award for her performance as Elizabeth Benton in an innovative movie called The Den. This was followed by her appearance as “a hooker” in Hell or High Water, which became one of the most acclaimed films of 2016. In 2016, she finally got the break she deserved with You Me Her.
