Home is where Scott McGillivray’s heart is. His interest in property as an entrepreneur, entertainer, and educator has seen him build a property and entertainment empire worth $100 million. He is best known to TV audiences as host of the mammoth hit HGTV show, Income Property. He has also starred on programmes that have been syndicated across 30 different countries such as All-American Handyman, Canada’s Handyman Challenge, Flipping the Block, and Urban Oasis. His mission is simple: help ordinary people to get the maximum value from their property. It’s a mission he has undertaken not just on TV but also through bestselling books, such as How to Add Value to Your Property, and through his position as a social media influencer, sharing tips with hundreds of thousands of followers.
McGillivray’s own property entrepreneurship began when he was still at university. A project about income properties—houses you buy, renovate, then rent out—gave him the idea of using a student loan to do just that. Today, he is a licensed contractor with a portfolio containing hundreds of properties across Canada and the United States. To share his story, and to inspire others to follow in his footsteps, McGillivray co-founded Keyspire, a company that works to educate people about real estate investment. He is also a partner in District REIT, a major North American property investment group.
Unsurprisingly, McGillivray’s epic success across different platforms has led to him becoming an in-demand keynote speaker. Currently working on a new TV series, Scott’s House Call, we haven’t heard the last of Scott McGillivray.
