Katie Featherston is an American actress most well-known for the role of Katie in the Paranormal Activity supernatural horror film franchise. She has also appeared in the subsequent sequels, and starred in multiple episodes of Steven Spielberg’s supernatural television series The River (ABC). Featherston won the Best Actress award at the 2009 Screamfest Film Festival for her role in Paranormal Activity.
Born in Arlington, Texas, Featherston began acting in school productions and drama activities whilst attending Bowie High School. She then studied acting at the Southern Methodist University before moving to Los Angeles to progress her acting career in 2005. After several small roles in movies including Private Lives and the Scorekeeper she landed her big break when she was cast in Paramount’s smash hit horror film Paranormal Activity. The movie was made for only $15,000 but became one of the most profitable films ever made after it took in excess of $100 million dollars at the US box office. After her award-winning performance in the film she reprised the role in the sequels to the movie, including a cameo in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.
Featherston is best known to TV audiences for portraying Rosetta “Rabbit” Fischer in The River, and also appeared in the hit series Big Little Lies in 2019. She also co-directed and produced her first short film, Becoming, and is currently developing her first feature.
