Lakatriona Brunson is the formidable powerhouse best known for her role as the terrifying Bernice, a tow truck operator with a hard-core attitude on the documentary drama TV series South Beach Tow, a show that, through reality TV format with sections of re-enactment, details the day to day operations of a tow company in south Florida, named Tremont Towing. Known for her iconic sunglasses and her unique yet tough handling of unruly customers for the tow company, Bernice found fame as the most quoted character, and she became somewhat of an internet celebrity with her hilarious phrases and her outrageous stunts. However, while the towing company actually exists in the city of Miami, all employees shown in the series are fictional.
Outside of her television appearances, Brunson continued with her other passion- completing as a defensive end for the Miami Fury football team of the Independent Women’s Football League. An accomplished player and a certified physical education teacher, Brunson made history when she was named head coach of the Miami Jackson High School football team in February of 2016, as she became the first female football coach in the state of Florida. She went on to coach girls’ flag football at the same high school, and was also an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball team. During her stint as the coach, she worked with childhood friend Luther Campbell, known by his rap name Luke Skyywalker of the 1980s group 2 Live Crew, who was hired as an assistant coach for a period of nine months.
