Wes-P – also known by the stage name Mr. Uekusa – is a comedian and novelty act famous for competing in Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent. He is only the second act to compete in both competitions in the same year, and has also competed in France’s Got Talent as his original name “Uekusa” – making him the first ever contestant in the history of the Got Talent franchise to be on three different versions of the show in one year. He has also competed in Asia’s Got Talent and Romania’s Got Talent. Wes-P has amassed a huge online following thanks to his television appearances including over 825k followers on Instagram.
The Japanese comedian first auditioned for Georgia’s Got Talent in 2017 as Naked Comedian, and received a Gold Buzzer from the hosts Giorgi Kipshidze and Vano Tarkhnishvili, eventually reaching the Semifinals. A year later he tried his luck on Britain’s Got Talent, performing as Mr. Uekusa and reaching the Semifinals before he was eliminated. Weeks later he auditioned for America’s Got Talent where he surprised the judges with his naked teacup and tablecloth act. Wes-P was eliminated when Simon Cowell failed to press his buzzer, but undeterred has gone on to compete in several other versions of the show around the world.
In 2019, he performed with novelty superhero group BAD X TEN on Asia’s Got Talent, and a year later auditioned for Romania’s Got Talent. Although Wes-P has yet to win the competition, he has become a fan favourite with viewers around the world and his online following continues to grow.
