Blake Jamieson, a native of San Francisco, California, is building a reputation for himself in the field of sports painting. He’s been compared to Shepard Fairey and Alec Monopoly, among others. While art was his passion, he did not always follow a direct road to becoming a professional. Jamieson worked in digital marketing after college for a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies and startups. Blake chose to pursue his own passion after turning 30 afterwhich he opened his own art studio in California. Jamieson worked long days and nights on colorful portraits, abstracts, and mixed medium experiments.
Jamieson met former NFL player and current manager Jarred Fayson while visiting Las Vegas in 2017 to drop off a portrait to Rick Harrison from the television series Pawn Stars. Jarred pushed Blake to paint for professional athletes, introducing him to CJ Anderson, Jahleel Addae, and Corey Liuget, among others. He has since used those connections to establish himself as the preeminent portrait artist for NFL players, and he’s swiftly creating a reputation for himself in other major sports as well.
Blake began working with Topps in 2020, redesigning 20 historic baseball cards for Project 2020 alongside 19 other artists. Since then, he’s released a solo collection, Blake Jamieson’s Topps 1951, and is now working on Project70. Howie Mandel, Gary Vaynerchuk, Rick Harrison, and over 250 professional athletes from the National Football League, National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, and Premier Lacrosse League have all purchased Jamieson’s work. His artwork has also been purchased for private collections throughout the world. Jamieson’s work may be seen on his Instagram account, @athlete.portraits, where he has over 40 thousand followers.
