Alessandro Cortini is an acclaimed Italian musician, composer, and producer, renowned for his innovative contributions to modern electronic music. His professional journey began in the early 2000s, where he gained recognition as a founding member of the electronic band Modwheelmood. This project allowed him to explore his creative potential, leading to the release of several EPs and a full-length album, establishing his reputation in the music industry.

Cortini’s career took a significant turn when he joined the iconic band Nine Inch Nails in 2005. As a touring member, he showcased his versatility by playing keyboards, guitar, and bass. His contributions to the band’s instrumental album “Ghosts I-IV” and the critically acclaimed “The Slip” solidified his role as a key collaborator. In 2020, he made history as the first Italian inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Nine Inch Nails, a testament to his impact on the music scene.

In addition to his work with Nine Inch Nails, Cortini has pursued solo projects under the moniker SONOIO, releasing multiple albums that highlight his unique soundscapes. His 2019 album “Volume Massimo” received widespread acclaim, further establishing him as a solo artist.

Cortini is also an instrument maker, having developed the Strega synthesizer in collaboration with Make Noise. This innovative instrument reflects his commitment to pushing the boundaries of music technology, making him a respected figure in both performance and production realms. His ongoing contributions continue to inspire musicians and fans alike, marking him as a true pioneer in electronic music.
