Nicolas Jaar is a visionary American-Chilean composer and electronic music producer, renowned for his innovative approach to sound and rhythm. He began his professional journey in 2008 with the release of his debut EP, “The Student,” on the Wolf + Lamb label, which showcased his unique blend of downtempo and house music. This early work set the stage for his critically acclaimed debut album, “Space Is Only Noise,” released in 2011, which was celebrated for its experimental soundscapes and emotional depth, earning accolades from major music publications.

In 2013, Jaar formed the duo Darkside with guitarist Dave Harrington, releasing the highly praised album “Psychic.” This project further solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the electronic music scene, blending elements of rock and psychedelia with electronic production. Following Darkside’s success, Jaar continued to explore new musical territories, releasing the ambient album “Pomegranates” in 2015, which served as a soundtrack to Sergei Parajanov’s film of the same name.

Jaar’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish the record label Other People in 2013, which has become a platform for diverse artists and innovative sounds. The label emphasizes creator-owned content and has released works from notable artists like Lydia Lunch and William Basinski, showcasing Jaar’s commitment to supporting artistic expression.

In recent years, Jaar has continued to push boundaries with his music, releasing multiple albums under various aliases, including Against All Logic. His work remains influential, characterized by a deep understanding of rhythm and a willingness to experiment, making him a standout figure in contemporary electronic music.
