Arthur Nery, a rising star in the Philippine music scene, embodies the fusion of talent, perseverance, and destiny. Born on January 28, 1997, in the vibrant city of Cagayan de Oro, music coursed through his veins from the very beginning. Raised in a household where melodies were a way of life, Nery’s parents, themselves accomplished singers, unknowingly sowed the seeds of his future success.
Though his first public performance, a rendition of “Fly Me to the Moon” at his cousin’s debut party at the tender age of eight, hinted at his potential, it wasn’t until later that the path to a musical career crystallized. Despite his early exposure to the stage, a career in music wasn’t initially on Nery’s radar. It was during his high school years that his passion for songwriting ignited, a flame that only grew brighter as he pursued a degree in Psychology at Xavier University — Ateneo de Cagayan.
While balancing academics with artistic endeavors, Nery dabbled in various jobs, including stints as a call center agent and an online English teacher for Japanese students. However, fate had other plans for him. A fortuitous encounter at comedian Wacky Kiray’s show in Bukidnon led Nery to cross paths with Kean Cipriano, the frontman of Callalily and the founder of O/C Records. Seizing the opportunity, Nery signed with O/C that very night, setting the stage for his meteoric rise.
In 2019, Nery inked a deal with Viva Records, launching his debut album “Letters Never Sent.” However, it was the release of his single “Pagsamo” in 2021 that propelled him into the spotlight, earning him widespread acclaim and solidifying his status as a musical force to be reckoned with. With his soulful voice, poignant lyrics, and unwavering dedication, Arthur Nery continues to captivate audiences, proving that sometimes, the greatest journeys begin with an unexpected melody.
