Colombian singer, songwriter, and composer, Darío Gómez, has successfully sung his way into the broken hearts of countless fans both in his native country and the rest of the world. Known as El Rey del Despecho, which translates to The King of Heartbreak, his ability to perfectly capture the feelings of nostalgia and despair that follow the end of a relationship has been no small part of his musical success.
To date, Gómez has sold over six million albums worldwide, performing original works like ‘Mi renuncia (My Resignation),’ and ‘No puedo vivir sin ti (I Cannot Live Without You),’ – the song that earned him his nickname. He has also won a prize from The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers in New York City for his composition of ‘Nadie es Eterno.’
Gómez began writing songs age 14, and after years of honing his skills, was signed to the Codiscos label. One of his first hits was a dedication to his late sister, ‘Ángel perdido (Lost Angel),’ which he followed with a mix of original productions, interpretations of songs like Sobreviviré, and collaborations with artists like Jhonny Rivera, Yelsid, and Andy Rivera. The years that followed saw him progress as an artist and songwriter, building a devoted following that spans every continent. His music remains enduringly popular, and Gómez continues to embark on sold-out international tours that touch the hearts of fans worldwide.
