Ileana Mercedes Cabra Joglar, known professionally as Ile, is a celebrated Puerto Rican singer and songwriter whose career has evolved impressively since her teenage years. She began her musical journey as a backing vocalist for the renowned group Calle 13, where she performed under the stage name PG-13 for a decade alongside her brothers, Residente and Visitante. Her early experiences on stage, including performances at major venues like the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, laid a strong foundation for her future endeavors in music.

In June 2016, Ile released her debut solo album, “Ilevitable,” which garnered critical acclaim and won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album in 2017. The album showcased her versatility as an artist, blending traditional Latin sounds with contemporary influences. Her nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards as “Best New Artist” further solidified her status in the music industry, marking her as a significant new voice in Latin music.

Following her successful debut, Ile continued to captivate audiences with her sophomore album, “Almadura,” released in May 2019. This album explored modern and electronic interpretations of Puerto Rican folklore, reflecting on the cultural roots and contemporary issues faced by her homeland, particularly in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The lead single, “Odio,” was notable for its powerful message and artistic expression.

Ile’s third album, “Nacarile,” released in October 2022, further exemplified her innovative approach to music, incorporating a mix of traditional Latin American styles and modern genres. With collaborations from prominent artists and a commitment to cultural storytelling, Ile continues to be a dynamic force in the music scene, inspiring audiences worldwide with her artistry and passion for her roots.
