Israeli pop duo Static & Ben El Tavori are one of their country’s most fascinating musical prospects. Releasing hugely successful songs in both Hebrew and English, they have collaborated with some of the West’s most prominent musical stars, including the Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull, and Emily Wright (known for her production and writing work with the likes of Britney Spears, One Direction, and Flo Rida to name just a few). To date, they have scored an incredible 13 number-one singles in Israel. As well as a top-twenty hit in the US Latin charts, surely a first for any Israeli group.
Static & Ben El Tavori first work together in 2015 when they featured on a single by Israeli rapper SkyDaMac. By the end of that year, they had released their first single together, ‘Barbie’, which became a hit on Galgalatz, one of the country’s most influential radio stations. The following year saw them truly break through, with their third single, ‘Silsulim’, being named ‘Song of the Year’ in the Annual Hebrew Song Chart put together by the country’s leading radio stations. They also won various other breakthrough awards.
The following year, they took their success international with ‘Tudo Bom’, which contained Portuguese lyrics, became a hit in Brazil, and achieved the most views in 24 hours of any Israeli music video ever. In 2018, they released their first English-language single, ‘Broke Ass Millionaire’, and signed a multi-album deal with major American label Capitol Records. Their 2020 collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas, ‘Shake Ya Boom Boom’, was yet another Israeli number one, proving that Static & Ben El Tavori are truly breaking down musical boundaries.
