Alexis Conran is most well-known for his role on the BBC Three show The Real Hustle, where he exposed some of the most common tricks used by fraudsters and confidence tricksters. He has also had various roles in television dramas and radio.
The speaker, broadcaster and presenter moved to London from Greece aged 16, to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He began his career with small parts in music videos, and with the role of Prince Ali in TV miniseries Arabian Nights. With his unique knowledge of scams and tricks used by criminals, he became part of a team of experts who advised writers on the BBC show Hustle from 2006. This inspired a spin off show, The Real Hustle, in which Conran revealed the tactics used by conmen to trick innocent members of the public using distraction and confidence tricks. He’s also presented Man v Expert on the Discovery Channel and worked with the Office fo Fair Trading to help consumers avoid becoming a victim of fraud.
Alongside his expertise on the world of conmen, Conran has starred in TV programmes such as The Walking Dead, Wire in the Blood and ITV’s hit drama The Durrells. He has hosted The Wright Stuff as a stand-in for the regular host, as well as being a contestant on the 2016 series of Celebrity Masterchef of which he was champion. He regularly presents the Talkradio show Radio Hustles and is a member of The Magic Circle.
