Danny Maddix was a fierce competitor on the football field and enjoyed spells with Tottenham Hotspur, Southend United and Sheffield Wednesday. However, he is most widely recognised from his time at Queens Park Rangers, a team for which he played 295 times. Maddix was an integral member of the side that maintained their Premier League status and even contributed 13 goals for the team.
His 14-year career with the R’s was the best period of his career, and he was a driving force in their successful 1994-95 campaign which saw the team finish in eighth place. However, a constant change in management meant that Maddix fell out of favour at Loftus Road. The defender moved to Sheffield Wednesday, where he played on 59 occasions and contributed two goals.
Maddix was released by the club when they were relegated into the third tier, and the defender joined Barnet. He enjoyed one season with the club, where he even filled in as caretaker manager for three games. His final club was Grays Athletic, where he played for one season before hanging up his boots. The defender also played internationally for Jamaica. Despite being born in England, he was eligible to play for Jamaica because of his roots. He made one appearance for the national side but missed out on being named in the 1998 World Cup squad.
