Jasmine Thomas is a professional basketball player who won a gold medal playing for the USA at the FIBA U19 World Championship. Thomas represented the Under 19 team of the United States at the World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia and plays in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) for the Connecticut Sun.
With a professional career spanning almost a decade, she has also played for Atlanta Dream, Washington Mystics, Vologda Chevakata and Sika Brno. A relentless and athletic defender, she reached 750 career assists whilst playing for Washington Mystics and currently sits in 18th position on the WNBA all-time assists list. In 2017 she earned WNBA All Star recognition for the first time.
Born in Fairfax, Virginia, Thomas was a talented junior player who regularly set school and state records and led to her winning the Fairfax County Women in Sports Award for Sportswoman of the Year. Thomas was selected by the Seattle Storm in the first round of the WBNA Draft in 2011 and was later traded to the Washington Mystics in the same year. During her two year stint with the side she made her WBNA Finals debut appearance as the Dream made it all the way to the 2013 WBNA Finals.
Thomas has since played for leading teams both at home in the USA and overseas at Sika Brno (Czech Republic), Vologda Chevakata (Russia), Orman Gençlik (Turkey) and with the Fuheis Blues of the Arab Women’s Basketball League. Whether she’s playing at home or around the world, there’s no doubt Thomas is a force to be reckoned with.
