JJ Barea is a professional basketball player who most recently played for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. The Puerto Rican player started his career in college and moved on to the Mavericks in 2006. He later moved to play on other teams, but has returned to the Mavericks now, a tribute to where his whole career began.
Barea has had a long career and at thirty-six years old, he shows no signs of giving it up. Despite sustaining several injuries, Barea has always bounced back to prove himself. He’s only the seventh Puerto Rican to make it to the NBA and is very proud of his heritage. He represented the Puerto Rican national teams in both their gold medal wins in the Central American and Carribean Games in 2006 and 2010 whilst also playing in the NBA. His love of the sport and his dedication to his teams have made him a favourite in the world of basketball, as is shown by his large social media following. With over two hundred and fifty thousand followers on Twitter and four hundred thousand followers on Instagram, it’s clear that Barea has made an impression on the world via his sport and his winning personality. In his spare time, Barea is devoted to his family and to the running of the JJ Barea Foundation.
