Karen Adams is a distinguished author and motivational speaker known for her influential role in law enforcement as one of the first women to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in 1974. Over her remarkable 28-year career with the RCMP, she not only served in various capacities including Drug Investigator and instructor at the RCMP Training Academy, but she also paved the way for future generations of women pursuing careers in law enforcement. Her commitment to driving societal change in policing and the promotion of inclusivity is evident throughout her service.
Following her retirement from the RCMP, Karen transitioned to a fruitful academic career at MacEwan University, where she taught courses in the Police and Investigation Program. During her tenure, she took on the leadership of the Aboriginal Policing Program, empowering Aboriginal youth to navigate the recruitment process into police services across Canada. Her dedication to teaching and mentoring students has been instrumental in shaping the future of policing in Canada.
In 2014, she founded Adams Motivation, where she designs and facilitates workshops focused on areas such as leadership, strategic planning, and interpersonal communication within the criminal justice field. Her extensive experience in post-secondary education informs her approach to adult learning, enabling her to engage audiences and create impactful learning experiences.
Currently, Karen is also a published author of a memoir detailing her experiences and trailblazing journey within the RCMP.
