Liao Qiuyun is a female international weightlifter competing for China. Her weight is 121 lb and she competes in 55 kg events. Qiuyun is a World Champion and Asian Champion competing in this category. Qiuyun is widely renowned internationally for her many achievements and medals that she has won throughout her career so far.
In 2017, Qiuyun achieved a gold in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in the -53 kg category. At the start of 2019 she competed at the 2019 IWF World Cup in the 55 kg category and achieved gold medals in all lifts. After this, Qiuyun competed at the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo in the 55 kg category, again winning gold medals in the lifts. She set a world record in the clean and jerk lifting 128 kg. Hidilyn Diaz was the silver medallist – Qiuyun outlifted her by 15 kg. Qiuyun is part of the weightlifting team representing China, who had an extremely successful visit at the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand as the Chinese team won five gold medals on the third day.
Qiuyun broke the clean and jerk world record with 129 kg, beating fellow team member Zhang Wanqiong. Qiuyun is one of the Chinese team members tipped to win an Olympic medal in Tokyo.
