Maria-Lorena Manolica is an elite sprint canoeist from Azerbaijan. Representing the Azerbaijan Rowing and Canoe Federation, Manolica has won several titles as an elite level athlete. Although Manolica began her professional career with a slow start in the 2017 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup, her progression as a competitor is undeniable. The very next year Manolica earned her first gold medal in the Women’s K1 Senior 200 Final at the 2018 ICF Canoe Spring World Cup.
As Manolica’s career was beginning to show its first signs of greatness, her competitive edge only became sharper. In the 2018 ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships, Manolica once again displayed her superior athletic ability by ranking first in the Women’s K1 U23 200 Final event. Manolica would go on to finish the year strong by ranking second overall in the Women’s K1 Senior 200 at the 2018 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships.
Entering her most recent year in her career, Manolica defended her position as an established champion. At the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup, Manolica once again earned a first place ranking at the Women’s K1 Senior 200 event solidifying her athletic ability once again. As a young champion in the midst of her prime, Manolica shows every indication of what would continue to be very successful career as a spring canoeist.
