Former NHL player Martin Brodeur won the Stanley Cup three times during his career, and is now an ice hockey team executive.
Brodeur played ice hockey throughout his youth, choosing to play in goal on a whim when he was seven. It turned out to be a crucial decision in his career, and he went on to attend training sessions and ice hockey camps dedicated to becoming a better goalkeeper. As a youth player he was chosen for the Quebec Major Junior League, and played in the All Rookie Team and Second All Star Team as part of the competition. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1990, and spent almost all of his career with the team. During his first season as a professional he was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy for best rookie, and he went on to win the Vezina Trophy four times and the William M Jennings Trophy five times. Brodeur has also played in the Olympic Games twice, winning two gold medals and representing his home country of Canada in both 2002 and 2010.
Since retiring from the game in 2015, this star player has worked as assistant general manager to the St Louis Blues and as a management assistant to the 2018 Winter Olympics Canada men’s team. Brodeur currently works as the executive vice president of business development for the New Jersey Devils, and is now an iconic figure in the world of ice hockey.
