Penelope Leprevost is arguably France’s most popular showjumper. The Olympic gold medallist has been successful on the world equestrian scene for over a decade now, helping the French team to medal glory at the European Championships, the World Equestrian Games, the World Cup final, and of course, the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. She is also the owner of Penelope Boutique, the successful horse tack and equestrian supplies brand, and is immensely popular on social media, having almost 240,000 followers on Instagram.
Leprevost was born in Rouen in August 1980 and began riding at a very young age — she entered her first competition when she was six years old. She first tasted major international glory in 2010 when, on her horse Mylord Carthago, she helped the French team to win silver at the World Equestrian Games. She made her Olympic debut in London the following year, but her next major success came with another World Equestrian silver in 2014. This was followed by a silver medal at the 2015 World Cup Final.
Leprevost’s career hit new heights in 2016 when she and the French team won gold in Rio. She has continued to compete at a prodigious rate ever since and now has well over 3400 career starts to her credit.
