French archer Pierre Plihon has enjoyed considerable success internationally, including gold medals at the European Championships and European Games. Competing in both team and individual events, he is one of the most decorated archers in France and is frequently ranked amongst the Top 10 archers in the world. A right-hander, he has an average arrow of 9.12, and has won 56% of his matches.
Nice-born Plihon made his international debut in 2014, and immediately made an impression with followers of the sport. Competing individually, he qualified for that year’s World Cup in Lausanne, Switzerland, and earned a silver medal in Shanghai along the way. Meanwhile, representing France, he would win the gold medal in the team event at the European Championships in Echmiadzin, Armenia, where he also picked up the individual bronze.
Plihon represented France as part of the men’s team at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016, where they finished an impressive fifth in the ranking round amongst a crowded field of high-scoring teams. The following year, the French team would take the silver medal at the World Championships in Mexico City, and took gold in the recurve team event at the European Games in Minsk in 2019. Besides these, Plihon has scored team event gold at a World Cup stage in Berlin in 2017, and took a team bronze in the men’s recurve team event at the Bangkok 2018 Asia Cup.
