Ryan Williams, often known as R-Willy, is a freestyle scooter and freestyle bmx rider from Australia. He can also be classified as an action sports athlete in a broader sense. Williams has won seven gold medals in large air and greatest trick events on scooter and BMX at both the Nitro World Games and the X Games.
Williams is from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, and currently resides there. His career began in 2006, when he was 12 years old and he began riding scooters at his local skatepark in Caloundra, Queensland. He began riding BMX at the age of 15 after discovering a penchant for large air tricks. When Williams joined the Nitro Circus crew in 2009, his success skyrocketed. Nitro Circus is an “action sport collective” led by Travis Pastrana, which includes dirtbike riding, BASE jumping, and performing other feats all over the world.
In 2019, Williams bought 40 acres of land on the Sunshine Coast to develop a huge action sports centre for Australian sportspeople to train. It was dubbed “R-Willy Land” by Williams himself. In 2021, Williams competed at the X games in Los Angeles, California. He posts videos of his latest tricks on YouTube, where he has over 5.8 million subscribers and a total of over 240 million views. Williams also keeps up with his fans on Instagram, where he boasts more than 1.6 million followers.
