Samantha “Sami” Hill is an accomplished American water polo goalkeeper whose career has been marked by significant achievements at both the collegiate and international levels. A standout player at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), she made an immediate impact in her freshman year, securing All-MPSF Newcomer Team honors and leading her team to a remarkable 9-2 record in her starts. Over her collegiate career, she recorded impressive statistics, including 123 saves in her first season, showcasing her skills and establishing herself as a formidable presence in the goal.
Hill’s international career is highlighted by her contributions to the United States women’s national water polo team. She played a pivotal role in securing gold medals at prestigious events, including the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the 2015 World Aquatics Championships, and the 2015 Pan American Games. Her performance in these tournaments not only demonstrated her exceptional talent but also solidified her status as one of the top goalkeepers in the sport.
Transitioning from player to coach, Hill has continued to influence the sport positively. She served as the head coach for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams at her alma mater, Dos Pueblos High School, leading them to consecutive Channel League Championship titles. In 2019, she took her coaching expertise to Del Norte High School in San Diego, further expanding her impact on young athletes.
