Sebastian Tribbie, better known by his Instagram handle @youvegotnomale, represents the future of employment for many young people these days. A job that no one would ever exist even five years ago, is now a viable source of income and doesn’t require one to tirelessly grind over an occupation that you long ago lost all interest in. Sebastian is a reminder that life is supposed to be enjoyed, and really not that serious at all. After all, it’s just memes.
The online personality was all set to start his education in Media Studies at the New School in New York before following his heart, and a boy, to LA instead. Eventually moving back to New York, Sebastian started making memes to promote comedy clubs around the city. He initially started getting traction on his memes when he made one in the attempt to throw shade at someone he did not like, and social media could not get enough of it. Within a couple of years his Instagram page had blown up, from barely 1000 followers he now held over 50K and major companies were coming at him to work for them.
It was around that time, in 2017, that Gucci reached out for Sebastian to join their #TFWGucci meme-based campaign. The meme-master created a Gucci Starter Pack, inspired by the label’s high fashion feel, and love of 70’s glasses, patches and embroidery, which broke the internet. His current 145K Instagram followers can’t get enough of Sebastian’s perfectly constructed memes which all in one provide a perfect satire on every social group in the city, and relate back to awkward situations that everyone can place themselves in.
