Warren Tomlin has spent his whole working life at the very top of his industry. For four years, he worked for IBM, first as their North American Team Leader and then as their Chief Innovation Officer and Global Managing Partner. From there he moved to Ernst & Young, where he is currently Managing Partner for Digital & Innovation Practices. In his own right, he is also a speaker, writer, investor and mentor to businesses across the United States.
Prior to IBM, Tomlin was Global Managing Director of Accenture, a multinational, multi-billion-dollar professional services company with half-a-million employees and clients representative of more than three-quarters of the Fortune 500. Before that, he spent seven years as the man responsible for the online presence of the entire Canadian postal service. That Tomlin’s role with IBM managed to eclipse even these two positions shows that he is not a man who does things by anything close to halves. It also proves that if there’s a speaker who knows about marketing and innovation on a global scale, it’s him.
At IBM, Tomlin was a key part of the partnership between themselves and Apple. He was also instrumental in ensuring they were at the forefront of the rapid technological developments that have taken place since the millennium — virtual and augmented reality, connected devices, drones, mobile payments, and wearables. With Ernst & Young, he ensures the same pace is kept up. He is also a member of the CIO Strategy Council, a body which looks to empower the Chief Information Officers of Canada to drive forward the country’s IT ecosystem.
