Yang Jian is a Chinese diver best known for winning gold in the 10m platform at the 2014 FINA Diving World Cup event in Shanghai. Jian’s athleticism in his sport has earned him global recognition throughout the diving world and has even been called “the world’s best platform diver” by the Olympic Champion David Boudia.
In November 2018, the young diver injured his right heel during training. The injury required Jian to undergo surgery and to be out pause all training and athletic activities for a month before returning to the sport. However Jian being an experienced diver had seen injury before, and knew what it took to overcome the challenge. In 2015 at the World Championships in Kazan, Jian was hampered by a bad knee injury that ultimately affected his overall performance.
After displaying his ability to overcome the injuries that can come with a career in professional sports, Jian was named an Elite Athlete of International Class by the General Administration of Sport of China. Later, in recognition of his impressive track record as a competitor, Jian received the 2018 Class One Sports Medal from the General Administration of Sport of China. Jian is currently training intensively for the 2020 Olympic Games in in Tokyo in hopes of winning gold.
